Your Advanced Driving course is booked. What next?

Before your First Time Advanced Driving course, please read the checklist below. You can also check out our FAQs, or contact us if you have any questions!

Once you’ve registered for a course with First time 4WD, you’ll be asked to read and sign our Indemnity Release Policy and General Safety Rules form.

Bring a great attitude. Whether you’ve been driving for a few months or a few decades, we’re going to teach you some techniques that might differ from how you’re driving now, so also bring an open mind.

You will need your valid drivers license (Provisional or higher). Either an electronic or hard copy is fine. We will need to sight it and enter the details into our paperwork before your course.

It’s probably obvious, but you’ll need your registered and roadworthy vehicle. Your instructor will check both quickly at the start of the course as we need to ensure a safe workplace. (Make sure that your fuel tank is topped up too!)

Lastly, please make sure that your insurance company is ok with you having another fully licenced driver, drive your vehicle. In some cases your instructor might need to ask if you would like a demonstration.

Our Advanced Driving course runs for half a day, usually in either a morning or an afternoon. However, because we tailor our courses to our customers, we can work around you. Evening courses are an option too.

Before the course starts, we’ll meet somewhere convenient to you and your instructor. From there, we’ll do some introductions and run through a short theory session. We give your vehicle a check over, then we’re off!

After your initial course, you might feel you have more to learn, or you’d like some more training (it can be addictive!). Let your instructor know and we can book you in for Stage 2.
