Soft shackle

Soft shackles are relatively new in 4WD circles, but have been widely used and trusted in the marine industry for years.

The First Time 4WD soft shackle is made of 10mm 12 strand SK75 Dyneema rope, all hand spliced in Adelaide, South Australia.

Our shackles are break strength (BS) tested and certified locally by a LEEA (Lifting Equipment Engineers Association) accredited testing facility (Certificate No.6858).

Our shackles withstand destructive testing to a minimum of 13,562kg (133KN) and we recommend them for use with recovery equipment rated up to 11,000kg.

Each shackle comes with a high quality abrasion, heat and friction resistant two-piece sleeve.

Our standard open length shackle is 500mm, however if you require a shackle of a specific length, let us know and we can make to order.

About Dyneema

Dyneema rope is incredibly strong, but also incredibly light – and this is where the safety aspect comes in.

A traditional 4.75 T WLL bow shackle used in most 4WD recovery kits weighs about 2kg. Our First Time 4WD soft shackles weigh approximately 100 grams! In the event of a failure during a recovery, this weight reduction and the removal of a projectile from the system is a huge advantage, and may even save your life.

Dyneema has a gravity of 0.97, meaning it can even float in water.
